Introduction to Mexico
Mexico is situated to the south of the United States and borders Guatemala and Belize to the southeast. Mexico is a large country with 31 states, 1 federal state and a population of around 100 million inhabitants. The capital city is Mexico City and with a population of 20 million is the second most populated city in the world.
The ethnic composition that makes up Mexico is 60% Mestizo, 30% Indian, 9% European and 1% other. The people of Mexico are generally very friendly and helpful. They almost always return a greeting with a smile and if you make an effort to speak a little of their official language; Spanish, they will go out of their way to be extra helpful.
Because Mexico is such a large country the climate varies from tropical to desert depending on the region. The hottest months are April and May in the south and July to September on the Pacific Coast. The rainy season usually lasts from May to September.
You cannot directly buy or own property that is within 62 miles of the US/Mexican border or within 31 miles of the coast. Anywhere else you can buy and have the property in Direct Deed in your name.
From the USA Mexico is very accessible. From the UK, British Airways has direct flights to Mexico from London or you can connect via the USA or via another European city such as Paris, Amsterdam or Madrid.
